The requirement
With three children under eight and 7 pm bedtimes through the long summer, the decade-old curtains let in far too much light, and the majlis no longer matched the gatherings the family hosted in it.
The result
Every bedroom moved to true blackout with side returns, the children’s rooms in wipe-clean fabrics with no cords within reach, and the majlis was dressed in deep bronze velvet with hand-set pleats. Bedtimes now hold even in June, and the majlis finally feels ready for the occasions it hosts.
